Reasons Why Your Freezer is not Cooling

If your freezer is not working properly, it means there is something faulty or not working properly—your food is getting wasted and spoiled and obviously, it becomes a matter of concern. Though it sounds like quite a trouble, the reason behind the faulty freezer function could be relatively simple.

Below are some of the commonly found reasons for improper cooling by the freezer:

1. Faulty doors would mean trouble from many sides. Whether you have bi-part rapid doors or extra large rapid fold doors, the problem could be an issue with these doors. If hot air is entering through the doors, it means the energy is wasted. If ice is building up, the floors become unsafe. If the temperature is rising, the product can be lost. Overall, you need to make sure your doors are properly functioning.

2. Dirty condenser coils mean lesser dissipation of heat and obviously lesser efficiency of the freezer to provide cooling. Ideally, the condenser coils should be cleaned every six months to make sure they are working properly.

3. The start relay is a crucial wire because it makes your condenser function properly—if the relay is faulty, your condenser will work off-and-on or maybe not at all. This would result in loss of energy and time both.

4. If there is ice on the evaporator coils, you will have the problem in the freezer. It is best to defrost the freezer before restarting to make sure no ice is deposited on the evaporator coils.

5. Similarly, the evaporator fan motor is another part which can cause issues. If it is not working properly, it is unable to circulate the air properly within the freezer and therefore the functioning won’t be effective. Make sure to check it if you feel your freezer is not working properly.

Apart from the above-mentioned reasons, the problem in temperature thermostat and compressor pump may also be the reason to make your freezer not work up to the required standard. It is always good to diagnose the problem or get a mechanic who could fix things for you—whether it is a relay, a pump, or a bi-part freezer door—do not delay in getting the repair done or a part replaced because otherwise, you are risking loss of the products, wastage of energy and obviously money. It is better to spend the same money on getting the freezer working properly by hiring an experienced mechanic.
